Graham and I went to the "World of Wonders" at the Botanical Gardens about a month and a half ago - just testing it out to see if we wanted to get a membership. We had a mommy-Graham day - played in the kids' area and had a picnic lunch on a blanket next to the river. (I was looking for some special bonding time at the picnic, and Graham was MUCH more interested in the million "mime-mones" (pinecones) that were around our blanket. And the "big bat" (big bath) - river.)
While I know the gardens are not technically an undiscovered treasure, they are (were?) to us. The kids' area is AMAZING! We have since bought a membership and have been back about 5 times. And every time we go, we don't come close to covering the entire kids' area.
There is a bald eagle at the gardens that has made it's nest every year for the past three year - there's now a baby eagle in the nest. AMAZING!
One of Graham's favorite areas - the giant box of dirt - complete with shovels and scoops! (I find it INCREDIBLY difficult to clean under his fingernails every time he plays in the dirt!)
One of the little "huts"
The giant caterpillar pathway through the World of Wonders
The reason we went was because it was a hot day, and I was sure the big sprinkleres would be one. No such luck. Which ended up being a good thing. The small sprinklers in the frog area were on, and that was enough for Graham!
