What We've Been Up To...

We had another dinner at our house - my mother's birthday present. We had my mom, dad, and one other couple over for dinner. Loved it! We love having just a few people over and being able to linger over a long meal. Graham loves being at the table with us, too. (Although he gets a little loud...)

Kyle and I are alternating reading/ singing time each night. (Then we both sing to him as we put him to bed.) Well, our repertoires are MUCH different. A sampling ...

Song #1
I've got a gal named dirty 'Lil
She lives up on garbage hill
She never takes a bath
And she never will
Hop-a-chooey
Dirty 'Lil

I hestitate to write down his other songs. This does cause us quite a bit laughter at bedtime. And, Graham LOVES his dad's songs. We need to work on Kyle's repertoire. Obviously.

LOVE the feet that escape the sleep sack!

Graham's First Trip To The Zoo

The weather was perfect, we were looking for something fun to do with Graham....so we went to the zoo!! We had a ball. Graham's favorite thing to watch wasn't even an exhibit - he LOVED the geese. (Seriously?!) He also did like the meer kats and the prairie dogs. But the geese were definitely his favorite. We tried to walk away from them about 6 times - he cried every time.

We removed the "cup holder" tray in front of Graham once we realized he was having a hard time seeing things. Even the elephants and giraffes!

Graham laughed hysterically when he got in this bubble and was eye-level with the prairie dogs. Too funny!

He was very interested in the "animals" he could actually sit on...

Graham loves the water, but it took him a little while to warm up to the fountains. He was more interested once he saw all the kids in their bathing suits running through them

What's New...

Graham is just getting more fun by the day. Both Kyle and I are finding ourselves completely addicted to him! Some of his new things - he's got all kinds of new words (la, dada, something that sounds like mommy, fa - he spends a lot of time getting the "f" out of his mouth). He loves sitting at the dinner table with us - especially going out to dinner when we sit outside. He's a people-watcher just like his mom. He's giving great kisses these days - comes in with both hands on the face and mushes his wide open mouth on our faces. He has started biting....we think he learned this from his friend Allie. He hasn't bitten me, yet. Just Kyle. And he doesn't even have teeth, yet! So, he's just "gumming" it. Kyle says it still hurts. And, of course, Graham thinks it's hilarious. Which makes us laugh. How does one discpline?! With such a cute face, I'm such a sucker. Oh well.
This is Graham's friend, Allie. She's 6 weeks older, and they are too cute together. We had dinner together the other night, and these two were fun to watch interact.

Well just toppled over this way. Promise!

Graham is really interested in the hair dryer. So, we usually set his hair and blow-dry it into this style...

The garden - we are eating these veggies as fast as we can pick them. Unfortunately, there are not enough for me to make soups, sauces, etc. and freeze for the winter. I think we could actually eat twice the amount hte garden produces. My first purple pepper!

One of my favorite flowers - hibiscus. Have no idea how it survives every winter, but it does. Comes back every year.

One of our evenings out at dinner. We love going to Bravo and sitting outside. It's right in front of a fountain, and there is usually live music. This makes Graham very happy. And his mom and dad can have a very leisurely dinner. This evening there was a dance troupe on the commons - Graham loved watching the dancers! Very cool, I must say.

Impulse Buy

Graham played in one of these bouncers for the entire time he was in nursery last Sunday. He decided that bouncing was tons more fun than napping. Because he had so much fun, Kyle and I just HAD to buy one of these on our way home from church. It's hilarious how Graham jumps with such gusto!

Man In The Mirror

This is Graham's tribute to Michael Jackson. Who is that "Man In The Mirror?"

(Volume Needed)

Lots of updates...

Graham is laughing hysterically these days. A lot. It's too fun!

Last night was a great night. After Graham went to bed, we swam laps with the girls and then went into their cabinet in the laundry room. They know their cabinet and what is stored in there...special bones!! Yes please!

Graham's mom LOVES his naked little body!

Figuring out his sippy cup...

Wrong end

In addition to lots of hysterical laughter, Graham has kept up his yell. It, too, is hilarious. (To his mom and dad) Especially hilarious when it takes his entire body off the floor. He'll balance on his hands and feet while yelling.

Trying out new foods! Bananas and teething biscuits

Graham is famous! This is the actual picture in the paper that we talked about earlier. It's proudly displayed on our fridge!

LOVE the lilies all in bloom. Wish they would last longer

Love these feet!

Not quite sure what I think of this food...

Some of the veggies from our garden - YUM! We eat tomatoes everyday. Now a question - our cucumbers are seedless cucumbers. But the plants are from seeds. Explain that one. I'm not complaining - they're delicious. Just doesn't make any sense to me!

Something else that doesn't make any sense...these flash cards. Kyle ripped them out of Graham's flash card pack. We thought the green card should have a green border. The orange card should have an orange border. You know. Funny thing - the rest of the cards in this set have a border that is the color on the card. These are now in the trash.

Our actual anniversary - Kyle, Graham and I took a picnic to the beach and listened to a jazz band. So fun! Graham had a ball.

Graham and Kyle reading the newspaper. Graham's papa would be so proud!

Graham's Famous!

This weekend Graham's picture was in our local paper, The Virginian Pilot!! (And, no, my dad had nothing to do with it - now that he's retired I no longer have an "in" for getting extra copies!) The last time I went to see my ob-gyn, they all asked to see pictures of Graham. I was more than happy to show him off! They told me about the Baby-of-the-Week ad they do each week in the newspaper and asked if I would submit a picture of Graham for their ad. Well, sure! So, the picture below is the one we submitted, and it ran in Sunday's paper. I have to say, it was pretty cool to see our Little Sir waving to us from the newspaper pages! (Little Sir seems to be Graham's nickname that has stuck.)

Kyle and I celebrated our ninth anniversary on June 24th! We weren't able to get away just the two of us until this past weekend. Graham spent the evening with his BeBe (Kyle's mom), and Kyle and I went on the most fabulous date. We tried a restaurant we've never tried before - Salacia. Probably the best atmosphere I've even been in for dinner! It's a really nice seafood and steak house inside another restaurant called Catch 31 about 15 minutes from our house. We ended up eating outside - at a private table with the most comfy, white cushions. We were right on the beach, and the weather was perfect - about 80 degrees with a nice breeze. The food was incredible, great wine, steaks, crab appetizers, and we just lingered over a really long meal - a truly perfect evening. After that we went grocery shopping - hilarious! (It was nice to just be able to get it done before the weekend.)
