Irene is Here

So Irene sounds like she's banging on our door. In fact, I think she may have just torn off one of our shutters. Oh my - leave quickly!!

Graham-isms

Talking to Brooks - "It's OK. I'm here. I love you!" and proceeded to hug him. Oh my - I just melted!

When eating a ricecake for the first time - "Graham is eating styrofoam!" Yes, buddy, that's exactly what it's like!

His response to almost anything these days - "No way, Jose!"

While I was telling Kyle about a new toy I bought Graham for our hurricane confinement, I spelled out the words - "Suction dart gun". As soon as I was finished talking, Graham piped up, "Momma buy that for Graham?" Oh my!!

"Is Graham?"

That's how Graham says, "Where Is Graham?"

We had a round of hide-and-go-seek the other day, and he hid just like Papa hides - under the blankets!

The Gift Boys and The Harmer Girls

Last weekend, Laurie and Sean stopped by our house on their way to the Outer Banks for vacation, and the kids got to play together - such fun to be with them!!! Graham took both Hannah and Hadley for a ride in his jeep. Then he let them drive while he chased them. Then he checked under the hood to make sure the engine was working properly. So great to be with the Harmers - we LOVE them!!!!

Aunt Lauren Visits

Kyle's dad, step mom, and five of his brothers and sisters visited last weekend. We had a great visit! Lauren flew in a day early, so we got some good time with just her. Graham latched right on to her and asked her MANY times, "Want play play-doh?" And Lauren was very gracious and accepted his invitation every time! We also took a trip to the zoo - great fun but a little hot outside! (Naturally Graham insisted on applying his own suntan lotion.)

The Toddler Trek

We went to the Toddler Trek at the Aquarium a couple Thursdays ago, and we had a ball! The theme for the day was spiders - which was perfect. Graham is completely fascinated with spiders and webs. In fact, I think he's going to be a spider for Halloween! We started the outing with a snake - Graham touched it! And then a tarantula. (Couldn't touch that because of the little hairs they fling off.) Then we walked on their nature trail and did a mini scavenger hunt. At the end we stopped at the outdoor classroom and built our own spider webs with pinestraw - I thought that was a very creative idea!

As we made our way back to the main building, we saw three zipper spiders! Graham spotted them all. A perfect spider day for Graham.

The Cutest Baby!!

Brooks Bradley Gift is almost 8 months old....

Hurricane Irene

I have a handful of posts that I'm working on from the past week or two. But in the meantime, we're interrupting with a commercial break from Hurricane Irene. We have know she was going to hit us for quite a few days. We have prepared and prepared and prepared. I'm ready for no power for at least a week. Our generator is set up and ready to go. We have lots of gas to keep it going. I have a fridge full of food, and I can cook on my gas stove. I have a couple tubs full of water. And we've been waiting. And waiting. Yesterday afternoon after the kids woke up from naps, we went to the beach to see what the waves were like. The waves weren't much but the current was ridiculous. We ordered Steinhilbers fried shrimp for take-out, and now we're just sitting in the house. Brooks is sleeping in a pack n playin the downstairs bathroom, and Graham is sleeping in a pack n play right outside. We'll see how this goes.

We still have power - shocking! A bird flaps his wings the wrong way, and we typically lose power.

The Happiest Baby!

The Spray Park - Round Two

I took both of the boys to the spray park at the YMCA this time - and Brooks loved it!!  THANKS Mom and Dad for hanging out!!

Picnic Dinner At The Beach - Va Beach

The weather was GORGEOUS the other day, so we packed the boys up, stopped at Taste Unlimited for a picnic dinner, and hit the beach.  It was a perfect evening!

This Little Boy LOVES to Swing!

Mommy and Graham Date Day

My parents watched Brooks the other day so Graham and I could go to Ocean Breeze Water Park together.  We had so much fun!  Probably one of my favorite days ever!  It took Graham a little while to check everything out in the kids area.  We walked around and looked at all the kid rides and finally decided to go down the water slide together.  After the first ride, Graham hopped up and said "More water slide, Momma!"  We went down the water slides about 50 times, we rode the lazy river, and we even went in the wave pool to jump over the waves.  SUCH a fun day!!

Family Night with The Wights

The Children's Museum

I took the boys to The Children's Museum and we HAD A BALL!!!  SUCH a cool place!
