Let's Have a Talk

Graham's cutest phrase yesterday - as we are climbing the stairs to take a bath he say, "Mommy, sit down on steps and let's have a talk".  Oh buddy!!!  I'll talk to you for hours!!

And at the risk of the loudest voice in the house getting all the attention....Brooks is the SWEETEST most irresistible baby.  He is so happy!  I think my favorite time of every day is getting him in the morning from his crib and saying "peek-a-boo"!  He gets so tickled with laughter!  I could just eat his cheeks off!!!

Graham's New Distraction

We had a hard time getting Graham in the car to head home after spending the day at the beach house on Saturday.  The magic trick?  A children's toy catalog!  I handed it to Graham and asked if he wanted to see pictures of all the new toys currently for sale.  "Yes, Mommy!"  Wow - so easy to get him in the car.  And he looked at the entire catalog!  Turned every page very carefully and studied each picture.  He was occupied for at least 20 minutes in the car ride back home.  So funny!

Our Eleventh Anniversary

Kyle and I celebrated our 11th anniversary last Friday night!  So hard to believe we have been together for 15 years.  But what a wonderful 15 years!  How wonderful we still so enjoy each other!  We usually go to a really nice restaurant for dinner for our anniversary, but this year we were both just wanting to go sit outside on the water and pick crab legs.  What a perfect evening.  We're pretty sure this will be our anniversary tradition each year.  We went to Chick's, picked crab legs for a couple hours and had orange crushes.  So relaxing - the perfect evening for both of us!

Graham's New Phrases

Graham has really started stringing sentences together.  His two newest comments that we hear quite often:

"Mom, I can't" (and he says it with such regret - so hilarious!)
"Just in case" (This usually applies to something he is not allowed to have.  Like a sharp object.  After being told no, he asks for it again and say he needs it "just in case".)

Brooks and Food

My littlest fella LOVES to eat!  He has not yet met a food he doesn't like - Bananas, mangoes, papaya, peas, carrots, sweet potato, pears with kiwi, apples with orange, white nectarines, butternut squash...he is quite the eater!  I've got swiss chard the length of my arm in the garden.  It sautes up much like spinach.  I'm going to mix that in with his sweet potato this week....we'll see how that goes!

Fishing - for the first time!

The weather was beautiful this past Saturday!  75 degrees and no humidity.  At breakfast Kyle suggested he call my dad and take both of them fishing on the boat - Graham's first fishing outing!  Well, Papa was so excited, and he had just happened to buy bait the day  before.  So, off they went.  Now, I thought they would be on the boat for about 45 minutes and ultimately catch nothing.  Not at all!!  They caught tons of croaker, and Graham got to "net" the fish!  At the end of the trip. Kyle caught a 14 inch flounder (too small to keep, unfortunately), and Graham learned that flounder have two eyes on the same side of their head.

He's learning so much about interesting sea life.  He can tell the difference between horseshoe, ghost, and spider crabs.  He loves minnows and croaker (big minnows as he calls them!)

A perfect "boy" outing for a Saturday morning!

Boating!

A couple weeks ago, Kyle put our boat up for sale on Craigs List.  We just didn't think we'd use it enough to keep it on my parents' dock.  (And frankly, it's a little bit of an eyesore!)  Well, after cleaning the boat and coming home, Kyle mentioned he didn't really want to sell the boat.  So in a split second we decided not to sell the boat, and Graham went on his first boat ride that afternoon.  He LOVED it!!  He sat on his seat the whole time and held onto a rope attached to the boat.  (He also now has a new and improved life jacket since he's spending more time on the boat.)  Our little (dumpy!) boat has already had some great father-son times!

Brooks - 4 Months

Clearly this post is a wee bit overdue!!  Brooks hit 4 months on May 1st.  At his 4 month appointment, he weighed 17 pounds, 6 ounces - suffice it to say, he doesn't miss many meals!  He barely blinked at his shots!  He has so much chub on his sweet legs, that it must have helped to buffer the sting!  Also around his 4 month check up he started sleeping 12 hours each night!  He goes to bed around 7:00 - although we're now stretching him to about 7:45 so we can have family play time outside in the evenings.  He will wake up around 5:30 or 6:00, chit chat happily by himself for a little while, and fall back asleep until about 7:30.  Wow!!  Who knew how wonderful it was to sleep an entire night?!

He is also rolling over!

Brooks is such a sweet, easy baby!
