Ammi passed away after a few days in the hospital and then a week or so in a hospice facility in Virginia Beach. As awful as it is to not have her with us anymore, I think this happened in a way that she would have wanted. She lived fiercely independently until her last days. She was an incredibly strong, funny, opinionated woman. And her great grandkids are so used to playing with her - what a gift she gave to know them and be able to play with them until she was 88! She was the strongest, most able 88 year old I've ever know. She was such a special woman, and I miss her. She became a good friend to me when I was in college. She would visit, she would pick me up at school, I would stay at her house on my way home, and we would do girls' nights out with her friend Dot. We have had so many laughs and so many good times together.
A couple years ago I took a trip with her to go visit Aunt Jo in Seattle for a long weekend, and it was a super fun trip to take with them.
For the funeral weekend, Tanner stayed with Super Sam, Brooks stayed with the Carofinos, and Graham stayed with his cousins for the day. What amazing friends and family we have to take our kids for a day!
