Graham turned six months on May 8th - so hard to believe! I feel like life is just lots of firsts these days - for us and him! Some are below. We put him in his high chair for the first time.
Last Sunday after church (our church celebrated it's 10th anniversary last Sunday!) we went to The Chrysler Museum. They are having a special glass exhibit. I grew to love blown/ fused glass during some independent art classes in college. The exhibit did not disappoint. Sunday was The Chrysler's annual family day, so admission was free. We thought Graham would enjoy all the bright colors and cool shapes - he did! He especially enjoyed the glass-blowing demonstration. Although we had to venture out in the pouring rain to see it! Reminded us of Venice - great memories. (The glass demonstration, not the rain.)
We went for Graham's six month check-up. More shots - yuck. Graham officially weighs 18 pounds, 11 ounces. We thought for sure he would be in the 130% for weight - carrying him is like carrying a ton of bricks! He's between 50% and 75% for height and weight. Just right. While we were there, our doctor gave us another new book - we get one at every visit! And a growth chart listing what Graham should be doing at various stages. Kyle sent the picture below and the following message to quite a few friends: "Good visit @ the doc Thurs. We received the developmental milestones chart, birth to 3 yrs for the fridge. I know we have some time on this since it's listed under the 3 yrs column - but we may have a frequent fire issue. Aside from flame-retardent diapers and sunblock SPF 2000, we're running low on ideas??? Do they make baby haz mat suits? Still - good advice." (The sad thing is that this is obviously written for someone or it wouldn't have been published en masse.)

While Graham is still small, he's easy to manage outside. However, we have begun to envision what life will be like with a young toddler in the backyard. So, the area below is where we're going to build an outdoor shower. I loosely say "we" - that means Kyle. (We stole this idea from our friends Bob and Tristie - thanks guys!) I'm hoping this will ultimately save me some muddy footprints in the future...
I've got my first tomatoes!

So - not quite sure where our heads were when we took Graham on his first bike ride, but we didn't have a helmet on his head. While I don't anticipate being an overly crazy safety mom, I do want to make sure his noggin is safe! So, we bought Graham a helmet. It doesn't fit that well. Yet.
Graham is rather vocal. He loves to yell and regularly finds his voice. In fact we echo each other and drive Kyle crazy - makes me laugh hysterically!

GRAHAM WAS BAPTIZED!!!! This was such a cool day for us. Graham was baptized on May 10, 2009 - Mother's Day. I don't really have words to describe witnessing your child's baptism. It's one of the most beautiful moments of his life so far. I wasn't great at taking pictures that day, but one is below.
So many family members came to town for Graham's baptism - Uncle Zach and Aunt Robin, Aunt Jo, Ammi, Uncle Barrett (he was even on call!) Uncle Barrett loves to chew on Graham's belly - makes him laugh so hard! Exactly what Kyle does to him - so fun!
My parents had a catered lunch at their house after Graham's baptism - I just couldn't resist taking some pictures of the desserts - YUM! And, there were even cookies with a "G" on them!

Completely different topic...I used to take TONS of pictures of flowers. I happened to see a couple beautiful flowers in my parents' yard the day of Graham's baptism - mountain laurel and an amaryllis. When Graham has a sister (no time soon!) I plan to frame some of these for her room. In the meantime, quite a few of them hang on my laundry room wall.
Graham has really been enjoying different foods. His newest favorite - acorn squash. I bake it so it doesn't lose as much flavor - then puree it. Well, he's been gobbling this stuff up. Since it's a cold weather squash, I was thinking we would have a hard time finding more acorn squash since summer is upon us. Between my mom and me and three grocery stores, we rounded up 6 acorn squashes. They've been baked, pureed, and frozen, Just waiting for Graham to sink his gums into them! (and perhaps a new tooth - our good friend, Jen (pediatrician) told us on Sunday that his gums are definitely swollen - a tooth on the way perhaps?) He also really enjoys apples and pears. Below is the perfect pear - have you ever seen a pear at the grocery store that has the perfect leaf still attached? Graham really enjoyed eating this one!

A misc fact - one of Graham's favorite activities is to hang out in the bjorn while I do squats. Squats with almost 20 pounds strapped to your frontside. HARD! But it cracks him up. So maybe I'll be able to get some exercise in after all! The shirt below was a gift from Uncle Zach and Aunt Robin - we LOVED the graham crackers! Unfortunately he has grown out of this shirt, and it now hangs on his wall.
On Graham's six month birthday, Kyle, Zach, Robin, Graham, Mom, Dad, and I headed up to the Eastern Shore. On the way out of town, Zach happened to notice something tightly wound around Graham's pinky finger. A hair. We couldn't get it off, so we pulled into an Urgent Care. Long story, short, we ended up checking in. Graham had a hair tourniquet. He got a shot to numb his finger while the doctor took a very small razor and sliced the hair off. We really couldn't get it off with anything else. Graham was not a happy camper about the shot but quickly forgot. Since then a couple of our pediatrician friends have told us that this is quite common and a reason why children lose fingers and toes. Crazy! A week and a half later, he still had an indentation where the hair had cut into his skin. Graham's first bandaid!
