Part grasshopper, part beetle, part scorpion. I imagine this bug is a result of all the bug spray we've sprayed in our backyard.

Brooks' First Soccer Game
This was one of my most favorite moments as a parent - cute, funny, fun, such a blast. Kyle and our friend, Adam, are the coaches. And they have a team of little ones who almost all have older siblings who have played soccer. And these little ones have been stuck on the sidelines for much longer than they have liked. They have slept in their cleats, worn their soccer clothes for days on end, all warming up to forming their own soccer team. Finally! And they couldn't have been cuter or more excited when their first game arrived. (A nice perk - my friend Jill was careful to recruit a bunch of friends for this team, so we know everyone, and most of the kids are in class together at school.)
Operation Green Has Begun
When your neighbors across the street have a dirt yard for multiple years and visitors to your home begin to ask if the house is abandoned....it's enough to make anyone crazy. So operation green has begun. (We will track the progress of operation green for a bit - but this is a clandestine mission. As clandestine as it can be now that I've put it on our blog!)
Snakes
Kyle happened to be reaching in to the skimmer basket of our pool and up popped this guy. For a few hours, we were certain it was a copperhead. That's enough to make your heart stop. Now we are convinced it is a baby black snake (rat snake). But it definitely freaked us out a bit. Very hard to explain to our boys what happened to this guy when we are trying very hard to teach them to be nice to all of God's creatures. (Snakes and black widows - again the topic of questions from Graham)
Bath Time
Snuggles with my boys while they are taking a bath. (I have a bathing suit on under that beach towel - you just can't see it in the first few pics.)
