My sister in law asked me over the holiday what Christmas traditions we had started with Graham this year, and my immediate answer was rather sad - not much. We just tried to survive December since we were all sick for almost the entire month! In hindsight, we actually had a very special December and did start some fun family traditions.
1. We attended the kick-off holiday party at the Botanical Gardens - make your own cookies, storytime (The Polar Express), sitting on Santa's lap, and we ended the evening there with a tram ride through the garden of lights. Very special evening spent with our friends Jill, Adam, and Allie.
2. We reinstated gingerbread house making at BB & Buddy's house and decorate/ paint your own cookies at Papa & Gigi's house.
3. We went to see the Christmas displays in Portsmouth at Courthouse galleries and had a family movie night afterwards.
4. We drove through the light show at the oceanfront on the boardwalk.
5. Graham LOVED Papa & Gigi's annual Christmas party.
6. Graham stayed in the sanctuary with us for a portion of our church's Christmas Eve service (first time he's stayed in the sanctuary).
7. We hosted dinner after the Christmas Eve service for our family.
8. We hosted Christmas morning at our house with our family - very special to wake up and see Graham's reaction to all the presents.
9. We read an advent devotional with Graham each morning at breakfast.
Just a few very special memories! (Graham was introduced to Santa for the first time at the botanical gardens. It didn't go so well. He was much more confident the second time he met Santa at the mall.
